Location. Hotel Gresi is located in the Sicilian city of Catania, Italy, on the busy shopping street of Via Etnea and 100 metres from the cathedral and Baroque architecture of the old city. Distance to the train station is 1.5 kilometres, and Catania Airport is six kilometres away.
Hotel Features. Situated in an 18th-century property, the three-storey Hotel Gresi has period features, including wall murals and high ceilings with decorative plasterwork. Safe-deposit boxes are located at the front desk, where an express check-in/check-out service is in operation and tourist information is also available. Guests can watch the television in the lobby, and there is a hotel bar where coffee and a selection of beverages are served throughout the day. Parking is available on site (surcharge).

A continental breakfast is offered each morning in the breakfast room (surcharge).

Guestrooms. The 30 air-conditioned guestrooms at Hotel Gresi have contemporary decor in neutral colours, with tiled floors and modern wood furniture. All have balconies and windows opening onto neighbourhood views, televisions, and direct-dial telephones. Bathrooms have bidets, showers, and baths. Complimentary toiletries are provided and hair dryers are available on request.

Expert Tip. After an earthquake destroyed much of the Greek and Roman city in 1693, Catania was rebuilt in Baroque style. The Roman Theatre in Via Vittorio Emanuele is one of the best examples architecture dating from the earlier period.

From Catania Fontanarossa Airport (CTA):
Distance to Hotel Gresi is 6 kilometres, approximately 15 minutes' drive.

Getting there. The number 457 city bus departs every 20 minutes to central Catania. Buses also run directly to Syracuse and Taormina. Tickets are available from a booth in front of the terminal building, and must be validated when boarding. Taxis cost around 25 EUR to Catania, 50 EUR to Syracuse, and 100 EUR to Taormina. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. An inexpensive rail network links Sicily's larger towns, including Palermo, Messina, Catania, Taormina, and Syracuse. Buses run throughout the towns and many of the smaller villages. A car is recommended for exploring the less touristy areas.

Driving directions. From the airport follow signs in the direction of Via Fontanarossa.
Follow the SP70 through Catane.
After passing through the Piazza Paolo Borsellino, turn right.
Continue on the Circumvallazione di Via Dusmet.
Turn left on the Via Cardinale Beato G.B. Dusmet and go through the Piazza dei Martiri.
Turn right on the Via Rabbordone.
Turn left on the Corso Martiri della Liberta.
Turn left on the Via Cosentino.
Turn left on the Via Umberto I.
Turn left on the Via Etnea and Via Pacini to find Hotel Gresi.
