Location.The Domo is an avant-garde hotel with a terracotta façade and lies in a leafy suburb of Perugia, just 100 metres from the Metro station with direct links to the city centre. Perugia Sant Egidio Airport is 15 kilometres (10 miles) from the hotel, an approximate driving time of 10 minutes. Hotel Features. The spa area and sauna feature glass walls, darkened from outside but transparent looking out. There is also a stone hydro-massage pool and waterfall, with a stone-slab ceiling featuring glistening lights to resemble fireflies. The running machine faces a plasma screen which can be customised to guests' preferences, and the Zen Terrace offers a peaceful, minimalist garden retreat. Soft, blue lighting illuminates the bar, which specialises in local Sagrantino wines, grappas, and a range of herbal teas and infusions.
Guestrooms.Domo offers 14 suites, located on four floors, which feature contemporary minimalist decor with ambient lighting. All include plasma-screen televisions with satellite channels, wireless Internet access, on-demand videos/DVDs, minibars, and kettles with tea and coffee. Bathrooms have bathrobes and designer toiletries.
Expert Tip.The historical centres of both Perugia and Assisi are closed to traffic, which makes the Domo a good location with its convenient Metro link. Perugia is three kilometres away, and Assisi, 20 kilometres distance, is second only to Rome as an Italian pilgrimage site so beware large crowds on holy days.
Getting there. Perugia airport lies 10 kilometres (six miles) east of Perugia. A bus service runs to the train station and the centre of town (Piazza Italia). It takes 40 minutes and costs 2.60 EUR. The taxi fare from the airport to the Hotel Domo is 35 EUR.
Driving directions. From the airport take the E-45 for Perugia and exit at Perugia-Madonna Alta. Follow signs for Stadio, then turn right towards Santa Lucia-Cenerente. At the stop sign turn left towards San Marco, and the hotel is situated 30 metres on the right. The Metro station is 100 metres from the hotel and regularly runs into the centre of Perugia.
