Location. The Palazzo Giaracà is located on Ortigia Island in Siracuse, Italy, 100 metres from the cathedral and 1.5 kilometres from the Greek Neopolis. Siracusa train station is three kilometres away. Hotel Features. Situated on the seafront in the old centre of the city, Palazzo Giaracà was built by the architect Carl Sada in 1892 and has recently been sympathetically restored. A marble stairway and glass skylight are among original features on show in this four-storey property (accessible by lift). Safe-deposit boxes and complimentary newspapers are provided at the front desk, where multilingual staff can assist with travel and tourist arrangements. For guests arriving by car, parking is available nearby (surcharge).
The setting for breakfast is in the lobby café (surcharge) where drinks are served throughout the day. A room service menu is available during limited hours.
Scooters can be hired in the vicinity and are a good means by which to explore the area. Fishing excursions can be organised at the seafront.
Guestrooms. The 27 air-conditioned guestrooms have cream coloured walls, high ceilings and dark wood, baroque-style furniture. Floral fabrics in soft tones blend with the traditional decor. All rooms are equipped with satellite television, direct-dial phones, dial-up Internet connections, and minibars. Private bathrooms are fitted with bidets, showers, and hair dryers.
Expert Tip. The Archaeological Park of Neapolis contains a number of ancient sites, including Greek and Roman amphitheatres, the tomb of Archimedes, a sacrificial altar, and a necropolis.

Anfahrt
From Catania Fontanorossa Airport (CTA): Distance to Palazzo Giaracà is 55 kilometres, approximately 60 minutes' drive.
Getting there. Buses run directly from the airport to Syracuse. Tickets are available from a booth in front of the terminal building, and must be validated when boarding. Taxis cost around 100 EUR to the hotel. Prices are all subject to change.
Getting around. An inexpensive rail network links Sicily's larger towns, including Palermo, Messina, Catania, Taormina, and Syracuse. Buses run throughout the towns and many of the smaller villages. A car is recommended for exploring the less touristy areas.
Driving directions. From the airport, take Statal Street (SS 114) towards Siracusa. Go past the exit for Siracusa Nord and take the next exit. On arriving in the city, follow signs for Ortigia. Cross over the bridge and Palazzo Giaracà is located in Via dei Mille, the first road on the right.
