Perched on a hillside with views of Mount Etna, the Hotel Villa Sonia is a restored villa located in the ancient medieval hamlet of Castelmola, five kilometres from Mazzeo Beach. The 52 guestrooms feature rustic, warm- toned decor with wrought-iron fittings and terracotta tiles. All offer balconies or terraces, satellite television, direct-dial phones, minibars, safes and complimentary Internet access. Bathrooms have telephones, bathrobes and hair dryers.
The hotel's Ristorante Parco Reale serves local wines from the cellar, accompanied by Sicilian dishes in a spacious setting which features breathtaking views of the volcano. Driving directions: From the airport take the A18 Catania-Messina motorway in the direction of Messina. Take the Taormina exit and follow signs to Castelmola.
