The Palace Hotel stands on the promenade of a Tuscan coastal town, looking across a wide, sandy beach to the Mediterranean Sea. Built in the early 20th century, the hotel has retained an elegant appearance with chandeliers and long drapes hanging in the hotel reception and banqueting hall. Some of the 75 air-conditioned guestrooms have balconies and all include minibars, cable television and wireless Internet. All come furnished with original 1960s and Art Nouveau furniture.
Guests can enjoy a drink on the roof terrace while admiring the views over the Mediterranean coastline, and listening to live piano music during the summer months. The hotel also has a small, candlelit restaurant serving traditional Tuscan fish dishes. A conference room and small meeting room benefit business guests, and wireless Internet access is available for those who wish to keep in touch with friends and family. Staff at the 24-hour front desk can arrange bicycle hire and offer guidance on sightseeing and tours around Tuscany. Viareggio's main shopping area is less than a kilometre from the hotel and there are several attractions nearby, including Torre del Lago, home of the Puccini Festival, 8.5 kilometres away, and the Versilia Golf Club, 12 kilometres from the hotel. Further afield, the towns of Pisa, 26 kilometres away, and Lucca, 28 kilometres away, are easily accessible from Viareggio by bus or train. Pisa International Airport is 26 kilometres from the hotel, around car.
