Location. Located on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, the Victorian-style Fairmont Hotel Macdonald stands one block from the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Citadel Theatre is positioned two blocks from this hotel.
Hotel Features. Since opening in 1915, this stately property has welcomed visiting queens and kings. Dining establishments include the Harvest Room that offers panoramic views of the river valley and hotel gardens. The restaurant is the repository of museum-quality art and antiques. Regional fare includes Alberta beef, game and freshwater fish. The Confederation Lounge features leather furnishings and ornate wood paneling. Lunch, dinner and appetizers are available. A 24-hour business center contains computers with printers and high-speed Internet access. Wireless Internet access is available in public areas. Approximately 1,200 square meters of flexible function space accommodates gatherings. Health club amenities include an indoor saline pool, a spa tub, a steam room, a sauna and a fitness center with cardiovascular and weight-training equipment. Therapeutic massage treatments such as cranio-sacral therapy, Reiki, foot reflexology and paraffin techniques are available. Additional hotel amenities include a heated underground garage and the services of a concierge.

Guestrooms. This eight-story hotel offers 198 guestrooms, all with two-poster beds that feature triple sheeting, pillowtop mattresses, 200-thread count linens and down duvets. Guestrooms boast three-meter ceilings and city views. Sophisticated decor includes armoires, upholstered armchairs and ottomans, and sunny color schemes. Room amenities include coffeemakers and minibars. Marble bathrooms feature terry-cloth bathrobes and illuminated makeup mirrors. Cable television and high-speed Internet access are offered.

Located two blocks from the hotel, Rice Howard Way is a block-long outdoor pedestrian strip that attracts a host of international travelers.
