The Protea Hotel Bloemfontein is a modern property set in secure landscaped gardens and located in Bloemfontein's business district, two kilometres from the N1 highway. There are 94 air-conditioned guestrooms featuring beige and white décor and light oak wood furniture. All include safes, desks, coffee/tea makers, cable television and dial-up Internet connections.
Guests can start the day with a traditional South African buffet breakfast in the Amoretta Restaurant, which also serves lunch and dinner from an a al carte menu with vegetarian and children's options available. In winter drinks from the bar can be enjoyed next to the fireplace, and in summer they can be taken on the sun terrace by the outdoor swimming pool. Room service is also available. There is a conference room which can accommodate up to 60 people for meetings, banquets and private functions. The front desk is open around the clock and can offer currency exchange, laundry, fax and secretarial services and parking at the hotel is free. Adjacent to the hotel, active guests can find opportunities for tennis, bowls and squash. There are ample shopping opportunities two blocks from the hotel at the Mimosa Mall, and those seeking culture will find the National Museum and Literature Museum six kilometres away. The hotel is approximately 13 kilometres (8 miles) or a 20-minute drive from Bloemfontein International Airport.
