A modern hotel with characteristic traditional Tunisian design, the Hotel Solymar is located on a quiet sandy beach five kilometres from the village of Soliman and 30 kilometres from Tunis and Hammamet. The 200 air- conditioned guestrooms are spread across the main building and various bungalows, all of which are decorated with traditional touches and open onto balconies or terraces. After a consultation, guests can undertake a personalised 12-day activity and fitness programme using the hotel's fitness equipment, exercise classes, vaporium, massage and hydromassage services. Alternatively, the hotel is situated right on a sandy beach where the more leisurely- inclined can soak up the Mediterranean sun. There is an outdoor pool with a large terrace area where guests can lounge and enjoy a snack from the poolside grill restaurant, while the hotel's main restaurant is a colonnaded dining area decorated in characteristic Tunisian style. Children can enjoy the kid's pool with its slides and amusements, while colourful entertainment, including a daily changing program of games and twice- weekly folklore evenings, is organised by the hotel. Guests may also like to water-ski, ride a banana boat, play bingo, and ride a horse or even a camel. Two tennis courts are available, and the sports-minded will also find mini-golf, basketball, volleyball and football facilities. Visitors arriving by car will find free parking, and several local attractions are readily accessible. Within five kilometres, guests will find Soliman, with its renowned ancient market, while the town of Hammam-Lif is ten kilometres away and the capital city of Tunis 35 kilometres away. Tunis-Carthage Airport is 30 kilometres away with an approximate driving time of 35 minutes.
Taxi or train are the best means of transportation from the airport to the hotel's vicinity. The train station nearest to the hotel is Borj Cedria, at a distance of three kilometres. The best way of getting around the hotel's vicinity and Soliman is either by taxi or car. Driving directions: From the airport, take the highway south to Hammam-Lif. Head to Hammam-Plage, then to Cedria Beach.
