The Mercure El Mechtel is an imposing modern hotel with business centre, situated in the Belvedere Gardens area of Tunis town centre, just three kilometres from the historic Medina district. The 421 guestrooms all come with balconies and are decorated in natural tones of cream and green with light wood furnishings. All include air conditioning, cable television, direct-dial phones, safes, minibars and Internet connections (surcharge).
After breakfast, guests can enjoy a dip in the open air swimming pool and those feeling active will appreciate the health centre, with a well-equipped gym and a sauna. Guests can also indulge in a visit to the hair salon and beauty parlour, or browse for gifts in the onsite shopping arcade. Dining options include the panoramic ninth floor restaurant. Offering views over the city, which serves a selection of al a carte dishes or the intimate candlelit restaurant with live guitar music. There are five restaurants onsite as well as three bars. Guests can enjoy Tunisian coffee and snacks al fresco in the attractive hotel garden, flanked by palm trees and adorned with Moorish style pottery, or relax with cocktails on a sofa in the lobby lounge bar. There is also an English style bar, the Churchill, where guests can enjoy a cool drink before heading off to dance the night away in the nightclub. Business users have access to a two storey conference centre with separate conference halls, numerous meeting rooms, an exhibition area and a business centre; all are equipped with the latest audio visual equipment; secretarial, fax, copying and translation services. Practical amenities include free parking and there is also an Internet access area in the lobby (surcharge) where guests can plan a day's sightseeing. The zoo and park are just 500 metres from the hotel and the historic Medina is just 400 metres away. Tunis Carthage Airport is five kilometres away with an approximate driving time of 15 minutes.

Anfahrt

The hotel provides an airport transfer service (surcharge). Taxis are available from outside the arrivals hall. A taxi to Tunis costs approximately 8TND. Bus number 35 runs every 30 minutes to Tunis and takes approximately 30 minutes. Tunis town centre is easily explored on foot. A hire car is recommended to reach the surrounding countryside.
Driving directions: From the airport, follow directions to the centre of Tunis town and head for Pasteur Place, then the Belvedere gardens area. Follow signs for the Hotel Abou Nawas El Mechtel.
