Expert Tip. Smyrna was the ancient Greek city that is Izmir today. The Agora was wrecked by an earthquake in 178 A.D. but rebuilt by Emperor Marcus Aurelius and was used until the Byzantine period. Its ruins remain today.

From Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB): Distance to Balcova Termal Hotel is 25 kilometres, approximately 30 minutes' drive.
Getting there. The hotel recommends taking a taxi direct from the airport, costing around 25 EUR. The Havas airport shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes from the airport to Izmir centre. Prices are subject to change.
Getting around. Electric cars are provided for getting around the hotel grounds. There is a bus stop outside the front gates of the hotel, with services connecting to Izmir centre. Otherwise, a car is recommended.
Driving directions. From the airport, take the E87 north towards Izmir centre. At the junction with the O30, turn left towards Cesme. Turn left onto Mithatpasa Cadi just before the junction with the O31 towards Cesme. Turn left onto Vali Hüseyin Ögütcen Cad where the hotel is found.
